2011 was a fantastic year for Medlar (aka Ned Pegler). His original productions under both his Klic and Medlar monikers gained support from a diverse selection of tastemakers including 2562, Motor City Drum Ensemble, Jackmaster, Addison Groove, 6th Borough Project, Space Dimension Controller and Jimpster - as well as airplay through Radio 1, 6Music and Rinse FM - and the Hit and Hope imprint which he co-runs forged an identity as a purveyor of quality underground electronic music, regardless of genres and trends.

Medlar appeared for the first time in June with 'Terrell', immediately cementing his place as a producer within the record boxes of many of the major players in the deep house scene.

Here is the mix:

PEARSON SOUND (aka Ramadanman) at Countdown NYE

David Kennedy's work as Pearson Sound, Ramadanman and Maurice Donovan
has been a positive scourge on the airwaves over the past few years. The best starting point for either a connoisseur or newcomer to his sound is this RBMA video interview hosted by Benji B:

Lecture: Pearson Sound (Madrid 2011) from Red Bull Music Academy

His current deviation from any kind of conventional 'dubstep' template hasn't come as a shock for anyone who's been following his career from the start - he's always had a particular slant and a percussively textured style all of his own that's often layered with thick and potent bass frequencies and synth washes - but it seems like with recent material like 'Work Them' (released on Loefah's Swamp81 imprint) Kennedy is simply toying with the world's expectations of him.

As a key component behind some of the most daring dancefloor music released in the last year, both as a producer and as a label owner - Kennedy co-runs the Hessle Audio imprint, alongside Pangaea and Ben UFO - he's travelled the world numerous times over releasing music by key producers like Joe, Elgato and James Blake as he's done it.

Scoring his label a well respected residency at London club, fabric and more recently, starting his own vinyl only night called Acetate in Leeds, his knack for working over a dancefloor shows no sign of waning. Finding the perfect space between bass bin and monitor he's constantly innovating, refusing to sit still and feeding off all kinds of temperate influences - from old house to Chicago juke music - 2010 saw him hording an array of productions that are absolutely battering soundsystems, radio shows and eardrums alike.

Pearson Sound has had an absolutely storming 2011 - starting things off with his white label remix 12" on the mighty Night Slugs label, which included his refix of Harddrive's classic 'Deep Inside':

Following on from this he released his critically aclaimed FabricLive album, which has unsurprisingly popped up in pretty much every self-respecting 'Best of 2012' poll:

Just bounce to FABRICLIVE 56: Pearson Sound / Ramadanman from Fabric London

2011 also saw the appearance of a new alter-ego, Maurice Donovan, who burst onto the scene with a remix of Julio Bashmore's 'Battle For Middle You'. This was promptly followed by the 'Babeh' 12" and most recently by the one-sided 12" 'Call My Name':

And to end his year on a massive high in December Pearson Sound's BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix was broadcast:

MENSAH at Countdown NYE !!!

Here at Stealth HQ we are all excitedly counting down the days until the return of the UK's biggest New Years Eve event - COUNTDOWN 2011 !!!

The lineup is second to none, with 7 arenas full to briming with world class DJs and live acts. One of the guys we are most hyped about is Bristolian bass-fiend MENSAH !!!

Mensah Anderson has been involved in the Bristol music scene from an early age, first attending the 'Jungle Book' under-18 night at the tender age of 11 - where he witnessed the late and great Steve ‘Hyper’ D MCing for Nicky Blackmarket. But it was the garage scene that really kindled Mensah’s first love of electronic music when he heard stalwarts such as Wookie and the Heartless Crew at the age of 13. DJing at various nights in Bristol, and getting tired of spinning other people’s tunes, the natural progression for Mensah was to start creating the music that he had such a passion for.

Starting a production course at a local Music College, he was taught by none other than Danny Byrd and was classmates with other Bristol producers, Chasing Shadows & Gemmy. Subsequently he landing a job in a Bristol music specialist store and in time he was able to build a studio. Having the likes of Roni Size, Portishead and Massive Attack passing by the shop only fuelled the desire to up his game in the production suite. This all paid off when his collaboration with dnb producer, Mutt, featured on Mutt’s album ‘Treading Water’ in 2008, followed up with Mensah’s first solo release, ‘Sahara / Not A Shy Gyal‘, on Lo Dubs in 2009.

In 2010 Mensah was picked up by H.E.N.C.H, releasing 3 EPs in 2010 including the likes of his massive track 'Big Up The Goons':

With aspirations of never wanting to make the same tune twice or wanting to be typecast into one genre, Mensah's varied productions are getting attention all across the musical spectrum. His most recent release 'The Resistance' (on DJ Die's 'Gutterfunk' label) is on more of an '808'-tip, being supported by the likes of Loefah, Boddika, Toddla T, Ikonika & Girl Unit.

Along with remixes for the likes of Example, Ghostface Killah, Drumsound & Bassline Smith, Baby D, Drop The Lime & Kito, Mensah also crafted the Phonejacker sampling, dancefloor destroying bootleg 'Brian Badonde Riddim' (which is currently available for FREE DOWNLOAD here):

For an idea of what to expect from his set at Countdown check out his mix for Glastonbury's Dance Village:

2012 is set to be a massive year for Mensah, starting off with his track 'Gambia' dropping on Mala's Deep Medi Muzik in January!
