Cause & Affect - Operation 60 EP

'Operation 60' is the latest EP to come from UK Bass outifit Cause & Affect. Released on Bullet Train Records, both tracks are filled with plenty of the weighty bass and tight percussion that we have come to expect from the talented duo. 'Dreams' is a straight up bass led stomper of a track while 'Ridonkulous', which was featured as a 'Free Music Monday' track by Annie Mac, is more of a jackin house style affair with an irresistable bouncy bassline. You can catch Chris Lorenzo, who is one half of Cause & Affect, at 51°27′ alongside the mighty Woz on Friday 9th March, 2014.

Disclosure ft. Jessie Ware - Confess To Me (Hannah Wants & Chris Lorenzo Remix)

As if Everywhere Festival on May 4th couldn't get any better, this weighty remix from Hannah Wants & Chris Lorenzo is due to be released on the very same day. You can catch Hannah Wants performing at the festival alongside the likes of MK, Scuba, Skream, Paul Woolford, Route 94, Tourist and many more. You can then see Chris Lorenzo the following Friday at Stealth for 51°27′ alongside Black Butter Records representative Woz. Both are certainly not to be missed.

Everywhere terrace party

As if the main course of Everywhere festival wasn't already looking incredible enough, we've now got a delicious little starter in the form of a Star Slinger and Doorly daytime terrace party to get everyones fist pumping arms loosened up.

Darren Williams, otherwise known as Star Slinger, is a producer and DJ based in Manchester, UK, taking influences mainly from house and hip hop. Star Slinger first came to the attention after self-releasing a beat tape in the summer of 2010 entitled "Volume 1". From then on, Williams picked up noteworthy press interest from Pitchfork Media, SPIN Magazine, Dazed & Confused Magazine and was interviewed by Annie Mac on BBC Radio 1. He has collaborated with Juicy J, Project Pat, Lil B, Stunnaman, Reggie B & Teki Latex alongside others. He has officially remixed for Jessie Ware, Gold Panda, Hundred Waters (for Skrillex's OWSLA label), Washed Out, Daedelus, The Go! Team and Broken Social Scene.

Producer, DJ, Radio Presenter, Promoter...... Musical polymath, Doorly seems to have already ticked off a lot of the things on any DJ's Bucket List.  DJing in Time Square New York, Touring regularly alongside his Hero & Inspiration in Fatboy Slim, Recording Two BBC Radio 1 Essential Mixes and sharing the stage with the Prodigy to 65,000 people (Twice!). His dedication to the craft of DJing remains paramount, with sets being played out across four CDJs, plus a samplers / FX units he is a firm believer that a DJ set should be a live turntablism experience. He's also responsible for the absolutely huge edit of 'Jack Ya Body' which has been getting plays in clubs all over the world from all number of DJs. His next release is the two track 'Boom Boom Room' EP which is due out on the 21st April on Toolroom records.

If these two can't get you in the mood for the rest of the evenings festivities then nothing will. Head over to the Facebook event for more info.

Record Store Day - Interview with Ursa Major

1533267 10151994666925777_413560898_n

What was the first record you ever purchased? The first record I ever purchased was a 7" copy of Snow - Informer. I was 8 years old and I learnt it word for word whilst constantly reloading it on my parents hi-fi system. 12 Inches of Snow was purchased some time later - Informer was the stand out track.

The latest record you purchased? World Psychedelic Classics 5 - Who is William Onyeabor? Nigerian Electro Funk from the 70's/80's which sounds just as good as anything out there today!

New release your waiting on? It's not new.... But I'm still trying to get a copy of WOLF10002 for the Medlar remix of Steffi - Your's.

How many records do you have in your collection? Sadly not that many anymore - Multiple house moves resulted in a serious reduction of what I had. Luckily I kept some!

Favourite place to shop for records? Discogs for rare or sold out releases (although some times the prices are ridiculous). Rough Trade and Boomkat for online convenience. Sadly Nottingham really doesn't have any decent record shops....

Your house is on fire and you can only save one record? Hmmm, probably Cheryl Lynn ‘Got To Be Real’. It’s my most treasured vinyl and one of my favourite tracks ever!

The house is mildly on fire and you have time to save 5 records? Deniece Williams- Let’s Hear It For The Boy, Outlander- The Vamp, Acen- Trip II The Moon Part 2 (Close Your Eyes Optikonfusion!), The Astro Trax team - Energy (Feel the Vibe), Enter The Dragon Soundtrack! (My mum gave it to me!)

If there was a zombie in your garden and you were using your records as weapons what record would you reach for first? Well I’ve got a few Hed Kandi records knocking around still, they would be first to go. Bet they would fly…..

What is your favourite ever record sleeve design? In terms of iconic images, it would have to be Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side of the Moon, however I am always a fan of clear sleeves with coloured/picture vinyl too!

How do your vinyl sets differ from sets you play on CD or USB? Most of my vinyl is quite old now but the majority of it is quite garage based so would be along those lines.

You get locked in a record store over night, who would you get locked in with to have a soundclash with all night long? Ah there would be so many people! Think I would have to say Oneman, not because I think I would beat him in a clash but I admire his varied sets which would make it very interesting so see what he came up with! He is a real selector in my eyes, not just playing new/obvious tracks all of the time.
